There is very little research into LGBT issues. It is especially true when it comes to quantitative and scientifically valid data. OUT actively aims to build a body of knowledge related to LGBT issues for use in programme planning as well as to lobby relevant decision makers.

The following studies have been completed:

In 2006/7 OUT completed a study on lesbian sexual health. It covered issues such as identity, relationships, sexual experiences, alcohol and substance use, and HIV.

In 2008 OUT will start with collaborative research focussing on Minority Stress and HIV Prevalence (University of Columbia/New York & the Human Sciences Research Council) and Stigma and Health Seeking Behaviours (Population Council/New York).
